Reliance Nitro 2.5 now offers unprecedented control with a APIs that set transaction points based on elapsed time, system events, or as determined by an application. An ideal use case is manufacturers of hand-held scanners used by warehouse managers and delivery drivers worldwide. These OEMs can now set a combination of different transaction points to ensure inventory data is protected appropriately while the file system switches into “fast scan” mode. When it’s time for a field up- grade, the file system can be set to automatically preserve the operating system data and prevent data corruption that could lead to devices becoming unusable.

Improved Security Features

With the first file level support for e•MMC secure delete, Reliance Nitro 2.5 offers a level of data security unmatched by other file systems. Flash memory uses copy-on-write to allocate data between blocks, making it more likely that file deletion will leave behind fragments that could be later recovered from the media by a forensic technician. With Reliance Nitro 2.5, files can be flagged as secure to ensure every trace is deleted. The new version of Reliance Nitro now makes it easier than ever to plug in custom encryption algorithms, making mobile and embedded systems more secure.
