Datalight flash file system platform is 400% faster than JFFS2 Datalight flash file system platform is 20 times faster with Linux caching

All data was gathered using  Linux kernal version 2.6.19 on a Logic PD MX31 Lite with Freescale MX31 processor and 56MB STMicroelectronics (ST512W3A) NAND flash. As with any performance analysis, results on your system may vary.

How did we do it?

Measured at the lowest level in our system, we have seen speeds up to 400% faster than JFFS2, as illustrated on the chart above. Due to the architecture of our platform, the Linux cache helps us achieve performance in excess of the raw speed of the flash chip when measured at the application interface level. These phenominal results are illustrated on the second chart.

Reliance, our high-performance transactional file system, always has a known good state, allowing it to mount almost instantly. This far surpasses the mount time required for a journaling file system that must review the whole journal to determine the file system state.
