Product Manager

General Overview

The Product Manager is the “business manager” for your product within the company. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products. You will define products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

You must be able to communicate effectively with all areas and levels of the company. You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with others in the marketing team, including outside vendors, to ensure complete, timely development and delivery of marketing tools such as data sheets, documentation, training material, seminars, and participation in related trade journals and trade shows. You will also serve as the internal and external champion for your product, working with the sales channel and key customers.

This position will be part of a product management team, reporting to the Director of Marketing, and will have a segment focus within the overall embedded systems marketplace. Requires travel (~25%) to customer and non-customer sites domestically and internationally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
Develop and implement a world-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
Keep abreast of new technologies/products in the market that complement/compete with ours.
Analyze potential partner relationships and provide priority input to the Partner Manager.
Provide high level and in depth product information to enable sales to effectively close business.

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of software marketing/product management experience.
Deep knowledge of the embedded software marketplace. Both HW and SW development experience a big plus.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Marketing or Business or equivalent experience.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to be a product champion and customer advocate
Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and concurrent projects
Able to manage multiple projects with demanding schedules
Passionate about creating successful products
